Saskatoon Branch, SGS 50+1 Anniversary Celebration

PROGRAM
1:00-1:15 PM – Welcome and Opening Remarks
1:15-2:15 PM – Family History on the Canadian Prairies – Dave Obee
Most Canadians have connections to the three Prairie provinces, through cousins if not through ancestors.
Researching those Prairie families can be rewarding, although it is important to note which sources are
common to all three provinces, and which ones are unique to each province. Using examples from
Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta, this session looks at a variety of resources, and offers tips to help you
learn more about your families on the Prairies.
2:15-2:30 PM – Break [we will NOT be disconnecting from Zoom, but will be getting ready for the next speaker]
2:30-3:30 PM – Following Wandering Ancestors from Eastern Canada – Lianne Kruger
This session will help you find your ancestors as they arrived in Canada, while they lived in eastern Canada,
whether they stayed or as they moved west. Lianne will describe the common and uncommon places, including
social media platforms, to search for records.
3:30-3:45 PM – Break [we will NOT be disconnecting from Zoom, but will be getting ready for the next speaker]
3:45-4:45 PM – Gathering Family Facts Using Timelines – Lynn Palermo
From research and planning to analyzing results and writing stories, timelines are amazing tools for the family
historian. In this presentation, Lynn will demonstrate how to create and use timelines at every stage of your
genealogy journey, including tracking the migration and arrival of your ancestors on the Prairies.
