SGS Certifications


 
The SGS offers training courses at various times throughout the year that lead to one of the three certification designations described below. (Check the Events page for upcoming courses.)

SGS Certification Graduates for 2007.

Complete list of graduates who have received and kept their certificates up-to-date.

Certified Saskatchewan Record Searcher

This certification qualifies you to conduct a search of the basic Saskatchewan sources, to write a documented research report and conduct your business in an ethical manner. 

There is an initial temporary 2-year certification followed by a permanent 5-year certification.

Certified Saskatchewan Researcher

This certification qualifies you to analyze genealogical research problems, to conduct research in all records sources in Saskatchewan, write well documented research reports and conduct your business in an ethical manner.

There is an initial temporary 2-year certification followed by a permanent 5-year certification.

Certified Saskatchewan Instructor

This certification qualifies you to teach basic genealogical methodology that includes: using forms, home sources, developing research plans, analyzing data and the use of the Internet and CD-ROM's for genealogy and using ethical and professional standards.

There is an initial temporary 2-year certification followed by a permanent 5-year certification.

Board of Certification

The Certification Board is made up of those who have successfully completed the Certification Programs. The members of the Board are there to oversee the adherence to ethics and professional behavior by its members. They select two members who sit on the Board for the yearly Certification examinations. This Board is made up of one representative from SGS and two members of the Board.
